A school bus driver in Easton is getting praise for thinking on his feet and helping police to catch a burglary suspect.
David Spellman says after he dropped off a teen on Beers Road, the boy came back to the bus saying someone was in his home. Spellman says he immediately radioed his dispatcher to call police, then watched the suspect leave the house and waited for police to arrive.
Officers say they were able to arrest 45-year-old Severo Santiago thanks to the alert student and quick-thinking bus driver.
Easton police say they recovered some jewelry that was taken from the home. They say Santiago is also a suspect in a burglary in Trumbull.
