A week after the Connecticut State Police Officers Union accused the Connecticut State Police of setting ticket quotas, the union has tipped off the public to an upcoming ticket blitz.
According to the union, on April 5, Troop D will focus almost exclusively on writing traffic tickets.
The union says the measure is being used to fleece the public. The state police maintain the measure is about public safety.
The union says the blitz is no different than setting a quota.
"Now, they're just not going to call it a quota, and they're not going to put a specific number with it... Our position is it's the same policy," says Andrew Matthews, of the Connecticut State Police Officers Union.
