Some Bridgeport residents are calling for a state investigation into the deaths of two puppies at the city's animal shelter after they fell down a drain last week. Those in favor of the probe say rescuers were held up from cutting through the floor to save the animals because they never got approval from the city. A former Bridgeport employee says people offered to fix the floor for free if they were allowed to cut through it. He also says the decision to use a high-pressured hose to push the puppies through the sewer was inhumane. A spokesperson for the mayor's office says the incident is an unfortunate situation but they have no other comment at this time.
