Home buyers who are tired of getting outbid in price wars are now turning to the growing trend of making unsolicited home offers.
Greenwich realtor Sabine H. Schoenberg, of Primesites, Inc., says buyers who like a home will now ask an agent to find out if it's for sale and ask to buy it.
"So they're going out there and in their intuitive side, I call it 'right brain transaction side,' are saying, 'Let's just find the properties that we feel drawn to,' and when there's a connection, they then, in my experience, go back to the broker and ask the broker to make the contact to the owner," Schoenberg says.
She says the same thing happened to her -- and now her 3,600-square foot home is for sale.
"A lot of renters that are now also converting because they've been in town and they really like it and have decided they want to buy here," Schoenberg says.
Schoenberg suggests even if your home isn't listed for sale, to have it sale-ready, and ask a realtor to keep you on an unsolicited list in case the perfect buyer comes along because she says in this market, one never knows.
The medium price for a home in Greenwich now is up to $2.4 million.
