Monroe residents are set to voice their concerns at a town hall meeting for a proposed recycling plant.

The town says it plans to use a 25-acre piece of land on the Monroe-Trumbull line on Route 25 for the plant. It was a site where a Walmart was supposed to be built.

The new facility for United Mining Northeast would be the largest glass-to-paving recycling plant of its kind in the United States.

Neighbors say they are worried about truck noise and glass dust blowing on their properties.

First Selectman Ken Kellogg says he wants to hear opinions and understand concerns, but also thinks the plant would help the town's tax base.

The meeting will be held by Monroe Planning and Zoning Thursday night.
