Old Gate Lane in Milford reopened Monday after a fire forced police to close off the road Sunday afternoon.
The blaze started at around 3 p.m. after a large wood pile went up in flames at the City Carting facility.
Fire officials say eight crews were on the scene putting out the fire until Monday morning.
They say the fire was difficult to put out because everything was so tightly packed.
Some neighbors in the area who couldn't see the fire could still smell it. Some say they wish local officials had informed them about the smoke rolling through the neighborhood.
Officials still don't know how the fire started, but they say there have been other fires in wood piles at the facility.
