Nicole Dasilva, of Bridgeport Central High School, is this week's Scholar Athlete presented by Colonial Toyota.
The senior is a two-sport standout with a 3.5 GPA.
Dasilva says she's a self-taught guitarist and pianist who wants to raise awareness for the importance of art and music programs in schools.
"Basketball is my getaway; music is the getaway for a lot of kids that I know," Dasilva says. "They play music, or they use it as their getaway for their emotions and everything. So, them not having the access to the things they want and the things they need I feel like that's a problem."
The senior will attend the University of Bridgeport this fall where she will study dental hygiene.
