Three people, including a former Suffolk County police officer, pleaded guilty in court on Friday to charges related to operating a prostitution ring in Suffolk County.
Among them was former Suffolk Police Officer George Trimigliozzi, who admitted in court to promoting prostitution, official misconduct and unlawful imprisonment. His plea comes in connection with illegal activities conducted at two locations: the Tunnel of Love in West Babylon and the American Girls Spa Suite 3 in Holbrook.
“He took responsibility today for his actions,” said defense attorney Mark Lesko, who also represents another defendant in the case.
Dana Ciardullo, another defendant and co-conspirator, also pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution. Her boyfriend, Frank Saggio, alleged to be the ringleader of the operation, pleaded guilty to the more serious charge of enterprise corruption.
Saggio is facing a potential sentence of two to six years in prison and has agreed to pay $1.875 million in forfeiture payments to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, according to Lesko.
Trimigliozzi is expected to serve around two years in jail.
Steven Arey, an Islip High School teacher and another alleged member of the criminal enterprise, was not present in court on Friday. He is scheduled to appear in October.
All three individuals who entered guilty pleas Friday will be sentenced at a later date.
