Police say a burglar in Wilton was chased away by a homeowner wielding a fire poker.
The incident occurred last week, while the homeowner and her daughter were home. The owner says the burglar kicked in the front door, grabbed a bag and started filling it with their belongings. Police say the homeowner and her daughter heard the noise and confronted the man.
?The homeowner grabbed the fire poker from her fireplace area, chased after him and while doing that struck him in the back and in the shoulders several times ? then reached into [the robber?s] car and took some of her property back as he was trying to flee,? Wilton Police Capt. Michael Lombardo says.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned white male, about 6-feet tall with gray hair and stubble on his face. He is believed to have been driving a small red SUV with Connecticut plates.
No one was injured during the burglary.
