Bridgeport and New Haven are making the latest push to lure Amazon and its second headquarters to Connecticut.
The state is currently backing the Stamford and Hartford regions, but the two cities aren't giving up.
The cities entered their joint proposal to lure Amazon Monday, along with its 50,000 jobs, to "Bridgehaven."
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim and New Haven Mayor Toni Harp had a "Launch Lunch" to celebrate their submission.
Ganim says they got their application in early on purpose.
“I believe we're going to be the first applicant or the first respondent in the country to file with Amazon,” says Ganim. “The deadline is actually Thursday the 19th, but we wanted to show that not only are we comprehensive but we're nimble and we're quick and we work hard and we're taking this seriously.”
Ganim says Connecticut has a lot to offer Amazon, including proximity to New York City, transportation, diverse population and many universities that could feed their workforce.
